About L’Academy Albany
At L’Academy Albany, we nurture every child with compassion, curiosity, and a learning environment rooted in language and play. We offer full-time, full-day, year-round preschool and daycare for children ages 6 months to 6 years. Our program includes Spanish and Mandarin language immersion, while also supporting English readiness. Our approach combines Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and play-based methods to support your child’s development. We also provide small student-to-teacher ratios, nutritious meals, and potty training support. Our Albany location also serves families living in Berkeley, El Cerrito, Richmond, and surrounding West Contra Costa County communities.

Will my child still learn English in a language immersion preschool?
Yes. English readiness is part of every day at L’Academy Albany. About 40% of the day is taught in English, while about 60% supports Spanish and Mandarin language learning through songs, stories, play, routines, and hands-on classroom activities. Children continue building English skills while also developing early communication skills in more than one language.

Our Infant classroom (5 months-24months) has a capacity of 15 with a 1:4 ratio, our Toddler option (18 months-36 months) has a capacity of 12, with a 1:6 ratio and our Preschool (Potty trained children over 2-5 years) has a capacity of 12, with a 1:12 ratio.
Are meals provided at your Albany daycare and preschool?
Yes! L’Academy Albany provides a nutritious morning snack, a hot lunch, and an afternoon snack each day, so there’s no need to pack meals. We are a nut-free school, and we work closely with families to accommodate allergies and dietary needs.

Ms. Brianna Mendoza
Director
Ms. Brianna is a dedicated educator with several years of experience working with children. She is committed to creating nurturing and engaging environments where young minds can grow and considers it a privilege to play a role in supporting each child’s unique potential.
What she loves most about working at L’Academy is the energy, positive work environment, and support that inspire growth, collaboration, and new opportunities for all.
Outside of school, Ms. Brianna enjoys spending time with her eight-year-old daughter and their family.
Ms. Bo
Lead Teacher
Ms. Bo is excited to join the team at L’Academy Albany! She was born in Beijing, China, and has been living in the Berkeley area since 2024. She has all her core units in Early Childhood Education, but is always excited to learn more.
Since moving to the United States, Ms. Bo has been working in a Mandarin immersion preschool, bringing her language skills and cultural knowledge into the classroom. Prior to that, she worked with children ages 5 to 8, teaching Olympic math. She enjoys cooking, singing, and teaching in Mandarin, and is excited to begin learning Spanish as well!
Ms. Bo is passionate about teaching healthy habits and nurturing confidence and compassion in each child. In her free time, she enjoys reading and going on outdoor hikes.
Ms. Nicole
Teacher Aide
Ms. Nicole is thrilled to join our infant program at L’Academy Albany! Originally from Southern California, she made the move to the Bay Area in 2022. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cal State East Bay and brings three years of experience working with children on the autism spectrum. Through this work, she has gained valuable insight into effective strategies and tools that support children across all age groups.
Ms. Nicole is excited to bring her experience and passion into our classrooms and to support the growth and development of each child in our care.
In her free time, Ms. Nicole enjoys hiking, spending time with friends and family, and exploring new foods—she’s a huge foodie!
At L’Academy, she looks forward to creating a warm, nurturing “home away from home” filled with love, laughter, and meaningful learning experiences.

We absolutely love this newly opened daycare, where we send our 18 month old daughter. Our daughter loves all of the teachers who are so sweet to her! They speak Spanish and she definitely understands a lot of Spanish. At the end of the day she is always smiley and happy and regulated. Highly recommend sending your child to this location!
Both of our children have gone to L’Academy, and it has been a great experience for our family. The teachers are loving and patient with our children and have helped them gain confidence in their language skills and fostered development of their social and emotional skills as well.
