About L’Academy Cary, NC
At L’Academy in Cary, NC, our mission is to nurture each child with compassion, curiosity, and a language-rich curriculum that builds a foundation for lifelong learning. We offer affordable, full-time bilingual childcare and preschool programs for children ages 5 months to 6 years, with Mandarin and Spanish immersion alongside English readiness. L’Academy’s approach blends Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and play-based learning to support each child’s development and love of learning. Our Cary location also serves families living in surrounding Triangle communities, including Apex, Morrisville, Raleigh, Holly Springs, and Durham.

- Mandarin and Spanish Immersion with English language readiness
- Programs Offered: Infant (5-12 months), Older Infant/Toddler (12–24 months), Two’s Program (2 year-olds), Preschool (3 year-olds), and Pre-K (4-6 years-olds).

Meet Our Staff
Laura Mendez
Director in Training
Ms. Laura joined L’Academy in September 2023 and serves as our Assistant Director. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, she studied Early Childhood Education and earned her Associate Degree in ECE. Inspired by her mother, a school director, she has dedicated more than 10 years to early childhood education and childcare.
Ms. Laura loves her role at L’Academy, where every day brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and support children and families. She understands that early childhood education requires dedication, patience, and hard work, and she is committed to providing high-quality care and education because every child deserves the very best.
She believes that the L’Academy team brings exceptional care, love, and education to our precious children, creating a nurturing environment where they can thrive.
Outside of work, Ms. Laura enjoys spending time with her loving husband and their two wonderful sons.
Yanely
Lead Pre-K Spanish Teacher
Ms. Yanely brings over 13 years of teaching experience to our school community. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language Teaching, a Master’s Degree in Contemporary English, and a Cambridge teaching certificate.
Since joining L’Academy in January 2023, Ms. Yanely has been dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where children feel encouraged to explore, learn, and grow with confidence. Her passion for education and strong academic background help her support each child’s development with care and purpose.
Born in Cuba, Ms. Yanely enjoys listening to music, watching TV, reading, taking walks, and shopping in her free time.
Suzy
Lead Pre-K Mandarin Teacher
Ms. Suzy Shujing Li is our Mandarin Pre-K teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Education and has more than five years of experience teaching Chinese language, arts, and culture to preschool and elementary school students. She is passionate about education and is dedicated to supporting each child’s emotional, cognitive, social, and physical development.
Since joining L’Academy in August 2022, Ms. Suzy has brought warmth, creativity, and enthusiasm to the classroom, helping children develop language skills while fostering a love of learning and cultural appreciation.
Ms. Suzy enjoys gardening, cooking, and practicing yoga. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite food is mooncake.
Jing
Lead Mandarin Preschool Teacher
Ms. Jing holds a Master’s Degree in Education and is passionate about creating a nurturing and engaging environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive. Originally from Cuba, she now lives in Cary, North Carolina, with her family.
Ms. Jing became part of the L’Academy team in October 2024 and has enjoyed guiding young learners while supporting their curiosity, confidence, and overall development. She is dedicated to helping each child feel valued, encouraged, and excited to learn every day.
Outside of the classroom, Ms. Jing enjoys spending quality time with her family and embracing new experiences in her community.
Cherry Chen
Lead Mandarin Twos Teacher
Ms. Cherry is a graduate of Dalian Foreign Language University and a Montessori-certified teacher (0–3) with nearly three years of experience in Montessori education. She is fluent in Mandarin, Japanese, and English, and also holds an Early Childhood Education certification from Wake Tech Community College.
Her passion for teaching began at home, where she homeschooled her children, and continued to grow through her volunteer work at an elementary school in Raleigh. Ms. Cherry loves working with children and finds joy in seeing their eyes light up when they discover something new.
Outside the classroom, she enjoys hiking scenic trails, tending her garden, experimenting with new recipes, baking, and spending quality time with family and friends.
