The infant years are the most impressionable years of a child’s life. From the moment infants are born, they're ready to learn through meaningful interactions with people who care for them. As your baby grows, our teachers will be there helping him learn how to share, take turns, treat others gently, and make friends. They will encourage and guide your infant when necessary. Our environment and approach all lead to language, order, sensorial exposure, as well as development of coordinated movement, both fine- and gross-motor. Because an infant’s brain is wired for language acquisition, our environments offer rich opportunities for babies to learn through listening, singing and sign language. Each child in our care is an individual to be nurtured with affection and respect. Our classroom offer a peaceful and loving environment where children can explore and feel secure. At the heart of our approach is a warm and respectful partnership with your family.
Children, like the rest of us, handle change best if it is expected and occurs in the context of a familiar routine. Most infants follow a routine, though not necessarily a strict schedule, that allows time for feeding, active time, and nap. Routine allows infants to feel safe, and to develop a sense of mastery in handling their lives. At L'academy we understand that infants are on their own schedules when it comes to eating and sleeping. When you first enroll, we will discuss about your child’s present routine as a starting point for us. That way we'll know how to best support you and your infant on this new and exciting journey.
Sippy cups and food for infants are supplied from home. With fridges, freezers, and warmers in each Infant environment, we are set up to safely and hygienically accommodate both breastfed and formula-fed babies, finger foods, jarred meals, homemade purees, etc.
For children who are fully transitioned to solids, we prepare breakfast, a hot lunch and a morning and afternoon snack each day. We aim to use all organic ingredients and cook all the food ourselves, in-house.
We want to see your child happy, healthy, and successful. That is why our high-quality toddler program is a warm, caring place that supports your child and respects your family. Our Twos or Toddler Program starts when children reach 24-months of age. Program aims to establish and maintain a comfortable, yet flexible routine. We provide potty training when your child is ready.
Social and Emotional Development
Early social-emotional skills are related to how socially, emotionally, academically, and professionally skilled we are later in life. The school environment and daily interactions are the basis for early life-lessons. At L'Academy we give our best to foster healthy social & emotional development by being good emotional role models and by teaching empathy and cooperation. We will help your child to become independent in following routines, interacting more with peers, engaging in meaningful relationships with others, controlling emotions, and developing a positive self-image.
Cognitive Development
In our increasingly diverse society, there is a growing appreciation of the value of speaking more than one language. Opening one’s mind to learning about and embracing other languages and cultures can be rewarding and enjoyable. Second language is one of the best cognitive development tools for young children. Studies show that, compared to their monolingual peers, bilingual children have better problem-solving and critical thinking skills, more creativity, improved memory, and better multi-tasking abilities.
You can visit our "Resources" page for more information on exposure to a second language.
Physical Development and Wellness
Promoting healthy lifestyle habits starts from a young age. Physical Development encourages the growth of gross and fine motor skills, as well as healthy living habits. That is why at L'Academy we provide sufficient space, toys, and equipment for child-initiated physical activities outdoors and indoors.
Creative Expression
Education doesn’t have to be constrained by traditional learning. Activities promoting creative expression are a great way to expand your child’s curiosity and cultivate their imagination. At L'Academy we try to incorporate activities that are interactive and entertaining so that children can learn and express themselves through dancing, crafting, drawing, and much more.
Languages and Literacy
Language development is a critical part of your child’s overall development. It supports your child’s ability to express, communicate, and understand feelings. It also supports thinking, problem-solving, developing, and maintaining relationships. Each center may provide different language immersion programs based on local demand. Some of the languages offered include Mandarin and Spanish. Please contact the location of interest to learn more about which specific language immersion program is offered.
Our preschool program combines children 3 through 5 years of age range in a single classroom to allow special social learning. Mixed-age classroom is a smaller version of the real world. The older children can lead by taking charge and caring for the younger ones. The younger children in the class are motivated and inspired by the big kids. Children in this setting will learn so many important lessons that will carry into the rest of their lives. The diversity of physical, emotional, and cognitive levels will give everybody a chance to shine. There is no language requirement for enrollment. Second language capabilities range from native speakers to those who only speak English at home. Our classroom, with a variety of curriculum centers, allows children the freedom to choose and explore their areas of interest. The size of the classroom will allow for a set up with different curriculum centers: math, science, art, music... These centers are updated by our experienced teachers with different content materials within our curriculum throughout the school year. At the end of the day, it’s all about keeping your little one interested, engaged and happy.
Social and Emotional Development
Social and emotional awareness describes the ability to identify your own and others’ emotions, as well as to empathize with someone, even when you feel differently. Children’s social and emotional health affects their overall development and learning. At L’Academy are committed to support your child’s social emotional development and help them build a solid foundation for the future by learning how to successfully manage their emotions and behaviors, establish caring relationships with others, follow limits and expectations, and interact in groups.
Cognitive Development
Cognitive milestones represent important steps forward in a child's development. Children are eager to learn right from the very beginning and that’s why at L’Academy we try to encourage your child's intellectual abilities by helping them make sense of the world around them. We will do our best to help your child develop strong learning and thinking skills by listening to them, giving them opportunities to ask questions, and letting them know that we value their ideas. Our teachers are committed to promoting the cognitive processes that are essential in children’s learning by creating an emotionally positive, structured, and cognitively stimulating classroom environment.
Physical Development and Wellness
Physical activity is vital for a child’s development and lays the foundation for a healthy and active life. At L’Academy we offer a wide choice of play-based, physically active learning experiences that link your child’s interests and abilities. Our teachers, as active role models, will encourage your child to participate in physical activity and help him/her develop gross motor and fine motor skills, fundamental movement skills, improve balance, coordination, and strength.
Creative Expression
By exposing children to creative experiences, we give them the gift of a rich and memorable childhood while laying the foundation for a lifetime of creative expression experiences. Activities promoting creative expression are a great way to expand your child’s curiosity and cultivate their imagination. At L'Academy we give our best to incorporate activities that are interactive and entertaining so that children can learn and express themselves through dancing, crafting, drawing, and so much more.
Languages and Literacy
Language and literacy development are major domains of early childhood development. They involve development of the skills used to communicate with others, as well as the ability to read and write. Many studies show that preschoolers who are read to every day have a larger vocabulary than those who aren’t read to as often. By reading every day teachers at L'Academy will enhance your child’s vocabulary and help them to understand different topics about the world and everyday life. Each center may provide different language immersion programs based on local demand. Some of the languages offered include Mandarin and Spanish. Please contact the location of interest to learn more about which specific language immersion program is offered.
Our preschool program is designed to address the unique requirements of each child. We will make sure to give your child a strong foundation and to get them ready for kindergarten.
