Director: Rachel Howard
Ms. Rachel Howard is excited to be the Director of L’Academy Folsom. With ten years of experience in Early Childhood Education, she is passionate about fostering young minds. She completed her early childhood education studies at Sierra College and received her AA in Early Childhood Education.
Ms. Rachel believes that exposure to languages enhances a child's empathy and broadens their worldview at a crucial time in development, encouraging them to think holistically and naturally. One of the most rewarding aspects of working with young children, for her, is witnessing the joy of discovery as each day brings something new.
As a mother of three boys, Ms. Rachel is excited to be a part of your child’s learning journey and is dedicated to ensuring the best care and education for every child.
Teacher: Hebe
Ms. Hebe has been teaching at L’Academy since March 2022, after previously working under My Preschool for a year. Before that, she spent three years teaching sports to high school students in China. After moving to the United States, she became curious about teaching preschool and decided to give it a try—quickly discovering her passion for early childhood education. She is a fully qualified Early Childhood Education teacher, having completed her training at Theoria Technical College. Additionally, she holds an Associate degree in Accounting from China.
In her free time, Ms. Hebe enjoys watching movies, working out, and hiking. She loves spending time with friends and has a passion for music, including singing, dancing, and playing the ukulele.
Teacher: Lai
Ms. Lai is a Toddler Teacher at L’Academy Folsom. She holds an Associate’s degree in English and is bilingual in English and Spanish. Born in Merced as a first-generation Asian American, she has three years of experience in the Early Childhood Education field.
She is passionate about working in childcare and believes that fostering a nurturing and engaging learning environment is key to shaping the future of young children. As a first-time mom, she has come to appreciate the beauty of life even more through the experience of raising a child. She strives to be a dedicated preschool teacher, a loving mother, and a creative role model for the children in her care.
Outside of teaching, Ms. Lai enjoys playing video games and reading popular book series such as The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, and Twilight. She is a big fan of the TV show Stranger Things and loves listening to Taylor Swift’s music.
Teacher: Nicole
Ms. Nicole is the Teacher’s Aide for the Infant and Toddler class at L’Academy Folsom. She is currently taking classes to become a certified teacher and is also a student at Sacramento City College, working toward an Associate’s degree in Biology with plans to apply for a nursing program. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
This role marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her professional journey, and she already loves it. She finds great fulfillment in teaching children new skills and languages, believing that the experience is equally rewarding for both the teacher and the child.
In her free time, Ms. Nicole enjoys watching sports, particularly basketball, American football, and baseball, and she passionately supports the Golden State Warriors, the San Francisco 49ers, and the San Francisco Giants. She loves traveling and has visited destinations such as Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, and South Korea. As a devoted coffee enthusiast, she delights in exploring new coffee spots. She also has a deep appreciation for music and enjoys attending concerts whenever possible.
Teacher: Alexis Cruz
Ms. Alexis Cruz is an Infant/Toddler teacher at L’Academy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development from Sacramento State and has been working with toddlers for three years. She is currently learning Spanish and knows some sign language, which she looks forward to incorporating into the classroom. Her favorite part of working with children is building strong connections with them and celebrating their learning achievements.
Outside of teaching, Ms. Alexis enjoys spending time outdoors, often going camping and hiking on the weekends. She is an avid reader and loves spending quality time with her family. A devoted pet owner, she has three dogs—Ace, Leo, and Gus. This year, she is excited to explore foods from different cultures and learn how to cook some of her favorite dishes.
Teacher: Marlyn
Ms. Marlyn has been working with children since 2016 and is excited to be part of the Preschool class at L’Academy. She earned her Early Childhood Education certification from Sacramento City College and also holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Her passion for teaching comes from the joy of watching children learn and grow. As a fluent Spanish speaker, she is eager to share her knowledge and language skills with the children in her classroom.
In her free time, Ms. Marlyn enjoys reading and attending country concerts. She is a proud mother to a six-year-old and has loved playing tennis since high school. During the winter, she enjoys snowboarding, making the most of the colder months with outdoor adventures.
Teacher: Amanda Foster
Ms. Amanda Foster has been teaching preschool children since she was 16 years old. She is a vibrant and enthusiastic educator with a deep love for working with young learners. In 2017, she had the exciting opportunity to work at Disney World, which was especially meaningful as she is a huge Disney fan. Her passion for early childhood education was also shaped by her experience co-owning a preschool center with her mother for about 10 years, where she learned invaluable lessons about teaching and working with children.
Ms. Amanda is a huge Disney fan and even wrote an essay on Pocahontas, which led her to visit Pocahontas' grave. She loves dancing, enjoys Korean food, and brings her energetic and creative spirit into everything she does.
Teacher: Megan
Ms. Megan has been working in a preschool setting since 2019, teaching multiple age groups. Her experience with children began in 2012 when she started babysitting, and she later became a swim instructor in 2018. Growing up, she often helped in her stepmother’s first-grade classroom, which deepened her passion for teaching. Since 2019, she has also assisted children with potty training. She has completed all her required units at a community college in Stockton, CA, and is close to earning her degree.
Fun Facts About Ms. Megan: She helped raise her younger brothers from birth until they were seven years old. She has a dog named Skye, who is her whole world. She loves solving all kinds of puzzles, including jigsaw, word search, crossword, and Sudoku. She also enjoys the snow.
